TASTE OF HOME
Full-on Flavor Stories
Features are extra focused on telling “food stories.” Bold photography with food as hero, simply styled, is the goal. As the art director, I was responsible for overall branded look and feel of the issue, especially the feature well. Features were shot in the studio. Special photo exceptions include those like the KitchenAid timeline and the “Bucket List” non-food photos (below). For each feature, I pitched in on story direction, recipe selection and sometimes testing, then took layouts from concept through final production. I got to work very closely with the Photo Studio director, food and set stylists and photographers. And I enjoyed extra creative license with typography design.
Features also required collaboration with leadership, editorial, recipe and digital editors, the Test Kitchen, other newsstand, books and digital art teams and others.
