Sharing Stories,
Ideas & Insights
As the magazine art director, I was responsible for carefully elevating the branded look and feel to be carried across channels. Working closely with the designer, I assigned each issue’s stories to for us to take from concept to completion. I considered efficiency, fit and growth opportunities; consistently owning covers, features and some departments. Most photography was shot in the studio; we directed that and location shoots, plus illustrations. We also pitched in on story direction, recipe selection and testing, collaborating with a big team. It included editorial, recipe and digital editors, plus leadership, the Test Kitchen, the Photo Studio, as well as the other newsstand, books and digital teams.
Most examples below were created after the most recent redesign which I led, design- and photo art direction-wise.

Note: The designer I worked with handled photo art direction for the “Global Slow Cooker” and “Citrus Cheer” stories (shown above). I contributed direction and layout design. And my blue vase!
